Support and counselling

Whether you have personally experienced or witnessed disrespectful behaviour: Ask for support! The University of Vienna has several services that offer support to employees and students and can answer your questions about dealing with sexual harassment, discrimination or bullying. Your information will be kept confidential, whether you are personally affected, a witness, an executive or teaching staff.

The support services at the University of Vienna will advise you and provide support if you choose to take further action. They work in strict confidence and will ensure your identity remains unknown both to the harasser and to the University of Vienna. Often, confidential support in and of itself can change situations for the better. The services can also provide initial relief.

As the person affected, you decide what should happen next. Further action will only be taken with your consent.

Seek advice as soon as possible and as often as is helpful.

As someone looking for support, you can decide which service you wish to contact. Should the selected service be unable to provide appropriate support for your needs, they will advise you which service(s) should be able to help.

What to expect from support services

Contact a confidential support service by phone or email to make an appointment. The support service you contacted will discuss the situation with you and inform you of potential courses of action, your rights and internal university procedures.
